1) Company Background

AUI is an educational corporation, which focuses on life science, and integrates math and other content areas, when applicable. Michigan and National State Standards are usually used for the basis of content for onsite programs and website activities. The content is facilitated by certified teachers. Using the most recent research and methodology is the goal, in carrying out objectives. We encourage free speech, asking questions and questioning the status quo, in our activities.

AUI was founded in 1994 and is registered in the State of Michigan as a nonprofit corporation. It received its final tax-exempt determination in 1999. It is a Combined Federal Campaign participant, has received funding from Charity Motors and numerous other businesses and individual donors. AUI does not receive government funding and spends no money on fundraising. The organization presently has no paid employees.

We are deeply committed to keeping our website safe and enjoyable for you and your family. AUI strives to conform to the Council of American Survey Research Organizations (CASRO) Code of Standards and Principles, the FTC’s Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) Final Rule, the Children’s Advertising Review Unit (CARU) Guidelines for Advertising on the Internet and Online Services, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, the Graham-Leach Bliley Act, and other privacy regulations and guidelines in the U.S.

Surveys, polls and quizzes are used simply for entertainment and educational purposes. We don’t offer the answers provided to any outside source.

AUI routinely reviews its security features and privacy practices, and enhances them to better protect your privacy. Such changes may necessitate modifications to this document, so for up-to-date information about our privacy practices, please refer to the online version of this policy. Our privacy practices are explained in greater detail below.

During the registration process on sciencefun.us (a site directed towards, intended for, and appealing to youth, young adults and science enthusiasts) we require individuals to provide us with contact information (e.g., name and email address) and demographic information (e.g., gender, birth date, city, state, zip code, and country). To allow individuals to modify their submissions at a later point in time, we also ask registrants to establish a username and password. This means that if an individual under the age of 13 attempts to register, their registration information will be collected, but automatically deleted.

During the registration process on sciencefun.us we require individuals to provide us with their parent’s email address. This enables us to contact the parent if parental permission is required for particular activities due to its subject nature or software download requirements. Children under age 13 are not permitted to register, and are blocked from registering via a session cookie. Adults are allowed to register children, when they are aware of the rules, activities, and indication of the parent involvement is noted.
